Here’s what some of our prior guests had to say…

We have just re-visited Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage for the second time and had another fantastic holiday there for 2 weeks. We enjoyed the cabin so much last year that we persuaded my parents to join us and they stayed in the owners other cabin, Bridge Cottage. They thoroughly enjoyed it too. Beau is the most amazing host – extremely accommodating, thoughtful and generous. We also had some really fun evenings, watching the sun set over the Smoky Mountains. You never tire of the views. This year we brought our mountain bikes with us so we went on several long rides on nearby trails.

This was our second visit to Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage. All it took was for family members from Dallas to recommend this place the first time. After the first visit we knew that we would return. The cabin gives you feeling of warmth, comfort, seclusion, and romance. The view from the deck is simply stunning and breathtaking. There is so much to do in the surrounding area…ride the train, hike the trails to the many waterfalls, white water rafting, trout fishing, or just enjoy the scenery and friendly people. This time we were able to see bull elk, black bear, and turkey at Great Smoky Mountain National Park when we went to Cade’s Cove. Beau is the perfect host. He can recommend good places to eat and enough things to do that can keep you entertained. On the first evening he sat on our deck with us and we sipped wine and swapped stories. Another evening we sat on his porch, drank all of his wine, and talked about meeting in San Antonio in January. We are already planning on returning, but will be staying at one of his other rentals, Buffalo Creek Lodge, with two other couples. Yes, we highly recommend Buffalo Creek Guest Cottage.

I earn my living as a professional ORVIS Outfitter, which means I seek out the very best in accommodations and services for our North Carolin fly fising Expedition Trips. ORVIS is the only company in the world that has a service endorsement program for lodging and fly fishing services. I always rely on the Buffalo Creek Lodge for the very best accommodations. I cater to all types of customers who hire ORVIS for destination trips because of the quality that ORVIS brings to full service trips. The Buffalo Creek Lodge repeatedly becomes my choice for accommodating customers for short and long term trips.

Perhaps the best feature of this cabin is its gracious owner, Beau, who also lives nearby on the property. I called Beau when I neared Bryson City in order to meet him at the cabin. I made a wrong turn and was amazed to discover Beau, in his pickup truck, waving at me from behind to signal that I was going in the wrong direction. Beau is a wealth of information delivered in a friendly fashion with a Georgia accent. The cabin has an excellent floor plan with a spacious great room leading to a deck, all of which have an awesome view of the Smokies. It is well maintained and very clean. The deck has two padded rockers and a picnic table with umbrella. If you bring binoculars, you can see the observation tower atop Clingmans Dome. The interior has attractive finished wood floors, walls, and ceiling, with large beams that highlight the cathedral ceiling. There is a large flat screen TV with Dish network, a fully equipped and spacious kitchen, air conditioning, and numerous pieces of interesting memorabilia. Also on the grounds is a landscaped picnic area with a swing and panoramic view of the mountains. The cabin is easily accessed by paved road which is apparently unusual for a cabin with a commanding view. Most others that I saw had gravel roads and did not seem amenable to two wheel drive. There is a large supermarket five minutes from the cabin and another few minutes places you in the quaint town of Bryson City, which definitely merits exploration. Stop by the welcome center where the accommodating staff will provide you with information and maps for all of the area’s attractions. The beautiful Deep Creek area of the Park is five minutes from Bryson City and the Cherokee entrance is about twenty minutes away. Don’t miss tubing in Deep Creek. The Nantahala Gorge, about twenty minutes away, rivals the scenery in the National Park. There are many rafting companies that offer inexpensive floats that range from lazy to class III rapids.

One of the many items that drew us to this property was the wonderful comments by people who stayed there. We would echo all the great comments already said. I just retired from the Holiday Inn Corp. after 27 years in the hotel/hospitality business and we certainly recognize hospitality when we see it. Beau, the owner, goes beyond normal expectations of what to expect from a rental owner. We certainly felt like guest and friends. This cottage has it all. Comfort, great views, great location, everything you need to enjoy the stay. If you read the other comments you will see a pattern and it’s all good. We will certainly go back to Buffalo Creek because of the combination of the cottage and Beau. Yes, it’s a Ten and Beau is a “11.”
